Join this summer for a 1-week mission trip experience in Oklahoma where we immerse ourselves in Native American culture, heritage, and daily life. We will be working with one or more Indigenous Tribes located in Oklahoma through our sister Methodist Conference, the OIMC (Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference). Not only will we be working
with tribal peoples on projects, but we will also be blessed to visit cultural centers, see traditional dances and demonstrations, and eat traditional Native foods. It is our hope that everyone gains just as much as we are giving through our service. As a Chickasaw of Oklahoma and a passionate advocate for Native American peoples, Pastor Chad hopes you will join him on this trip.
DATES:
June 19 - June 25
MISSION:
We will be helping with El Reno Indian Fellowship of El Reno, OK. The grounds are in need of maintenance and cleaning and the building of repairs and some TLC. The pastor has many small projects that the youth group could tackle. There would also be some lifting, sorting, and reorganizing as well in some of the buildings.
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:
Monday 19th - Depart, Commissioning and Communion Service Atop Mt. Scott, Fun Day at Medicine Park
Tuesday 20th –Cultural Learning Day at the Chickasaw Cultural Center and Choctaw Cultural Center
Wednesday 21st – Workday at El Reno Indian Fellowship
Thursday 22nd – Workday at El Reno Indian Fellowship
Friday 23rd – Workday at El Reno Indian Fellowship, Evening Worship Service
Saturday 24th –Morning at FAM (First Americans Museum), Evening Powwow
Sunday 25th - Morning Worship at OIMC Church, Travel Home
Evening activities each night will be based on cultural learning and experiencing Native American cultures, traditions, foods, and more!!!
COSTS:
Due to generous contributions, this year’s mission trip is being offered free of charge. Only expenses will include souvenirs, Meals at Cultural Centers, FAM, and any additional spending. All meals, events, and travel are covered.
NEEDS:
There are several areas to help serve this mission opportunity:
-Project Leaders helping with the project work.
-Kitchen Crew preparing meals for the team.
-Group Leaders guiding groups and keeping the schedule.
-Youth helping and having fun!
-Sponsors:
Sponsor a Meal, An Event, Supplies, General.
WHERE:
